Die industrielle Sargherstellung ist eine weitestgehend spezialisierte Massivholzverarbeitung. In Europa werden Särge überwiegend aus Kiefer (Pinus silvestris) - Dicke ~24 mm - und Eiche (Quercus robur) - Dicke ~26 mm hergestellt. Es kommen jedoch auch Mahagoni (Swietenia macrophylla), Kirsche (Prunus avium), Abachi (Triplochiton scleroxylon) und Pappel (Populus alba) zur Verarbeitung.

Die Sargformen und deren Ausführung sind weltweit unterschiedlich.

Industrial production of coffins is based on specialized solid wood processing. Most european coffins are made of pine (Pinus silvestris) - thickness ~24 mm - and oak (Quercus robur) - thickness ~26 mm. Other timber species like mahagony (Swietenia macrophylla), cherry (Prunus avium), obeche [wawa] (Triplochiton scleroxylon) and poplar (Populus alba) are also processed.

The design and construction of coffins are worldwide different.
